Adding a card
To add a card to your Bitstack account:
Open the Bitstack app and tap your profile (photo or initials) in the top right corner of your screen.
Tap Payment methods.
Select Add a payment method.
Enter your card details and follow the on-screen instructions.
Your card is added as soon as all the information has been successfully validated.
Why might adding a card fail?
If the process fails, several causes are possible. Identify the one that applies to your situation.
1. The 3D Secure verification did not complete
When adding your card, your bank may ask you to confirm the operation via an SMS code or your banking app. This is a standard security measure. If this step is not completed in time, the addition is automatically cancelled.
The authentication request usually expires after 5 minutes.
What to do:
Make sure your phone number is up to date with your bank.
Enable notifications in your banking app if you haven't already.
Retry and confirm the request quickly before it expires.
2. Online payments are not enabled on your card
Some banks disable online payments by default or following a manual restriction. This setting also prevents your card from being registered on Bitstack.
What to do:
Open your banking app and check that online payments are enabled for your card.
If not, activate them directly from your app or contact your bank.
3. Your bank declined the request
Your bank may block the operation if it considers it unusual or potentially fraudulent.
What to do:
Contact your bank and explain that you want to register your card on Bitstack, a company registered in France and supervised by the Autorité des Marchés Financiers (AMF).
Ask them to authorise this operation.
4. Your card has not been activated yet
A new or replacement card may need to be used in person before it can be registered online.
What to do:
Make a purchase in a store using your PIN.
Or make a cash withdrawal at an ATM.
Once done, try adding your card to Bitstack again.
5. Your card is not accepted on Bitstack
Some card types are not compatible with Bitstack:
American Express (AMEX) cards — American Express blocks payments to cryptocurrency platforms. You can however connect your AMEX account to track your round-ups, which will be charged to another card registered on your account.
Commercial or business cards
Prepaid cards
If your card falls into one of these categories, please use a personal Visa or Mastercard.
If the issue persists after these checks, contact Bitstack support from within the app.
