Do round-ups work with a deferred debit card or a credit card?

Round-ups work with deferred debit cards and credit cards, but with a delay. Here is why some transactions may not appear in the app right away.

Yes, round-ups are compatible with all types of bank cards. However, your card type directly affects how quickly your transactions appear in the app.

What is the difference between card types?

  • With an immediate debit card, each payment is debited from your bank account as soon as the transaction is made. Bitstack receives the information quickly and processes your round-ups without delay.

  • With a deferred debit card or a credit card, your bank groups all your monthly payments and reports them typically once a month, usually at the beginning or end of the month, when they are debited from your bank account. Bitstack only receives those transactions at that point.

What happens in practice with a deferred debit or credit card?

  • Your card transactions may not appear in the app for several weeks.

  • The corresponding round-ups are calculated and applied during the next weekly debit following the receipt of those transactions.

  • You may therefore see grouped round-ups corresponding to several weeks of spending appear at once.

Which transactions are included?

Round-ups are calculated on all transactions from your linked bank accounts: card payments, direct debits, and bank transfers. Even if some transactions do not appear immediately, they are included in the calculation as soon as they are received.

For regular, predictable savings

If you want to save a fixed amount in Bitcoin every week or every month, the recurring purchase feature is a simple alternative to round-ups, regardless of your card type.

Go to the Portfolio tab, then tap Recurring to set the amount and frequency that suits you.
