Why did my payment fail?

Your payment may fail for several reasons related to your bank or card validation. Here is how to identify and resolve the issue.

Common causes

  • Your bank card does not allow online payments.

  • You have reached your spending limits.

  • Your bank has flagged this payment as potentially risky and blocked it.

  • The 3D Secure verification was not completed successfully.

3D Secure is a security system used by banks to confirm your identity during an online payment. Depending on your bank, validation may be done via an SMS code or directly through your banking app. If this step fails or times out, the payment is automatically declined. The authentication request typically expires after 5 minutes.

How to resolve the Issue

  1. Check your banking app or online account:

    • Make sure online payments are enabled.

    • Ensure you have sufficient funds.

    • Confirm you have not reached your spending limits.

  2. If the issue is related to 3D Secure:

    • Make sure your phone number is up to date with your bank (you need to receive the SMS code correctly).

    • Enable notifications in your banking app if you have not already done so.

    • Retry and make sure to confirm the authentication request promptly, it expires after approximately 5 minutes.

  3. Contact your bank:

    • Explain that you want to make a payment through Bitstack.

    • Ask them to approve transactions to our service.

  4. Retry the payment manually:

    • Open the Activity tab in the Bitstack app.

    • Select the failed transaction.

    • Tap Retry.

  5. Remove and re-add your card:

    • This allows your bank to revalidate its authorisation for use with Bitstack.

  6. Use a different bank card, if available.
