Fees by transfer speed
When you transfer bitcoin from your Bitstack wallet to an external wallet, you choose the speed of the transaction. Fees are calculated at the time of your request, based on the speed you select.
The three available options:
Standard: Usually within 24 hours — Free (from 50,000 sats)
Fast: Within 2 hours — Pro rata + surcharge up to €2
Priority: Within 10 minutes — Pro rata + surcharge up to €3
Pro rata: an amount proportional to the size of your transaction on the Bitcoin network, independent of the amount transferred.
The Standard withdrawal is free for any withdrawal of 50,000 sats or more. Below this threshold, fees apply regardless of the speed selected.
Before confirming your withdrawal, the exact fee amount is clearly displayed on the confirmation screen.
Why do fees and processing times vary?
The Bitcoin network operates without intermediaries. When you initiate a withdrawal, your transaction joins the mempool, a queue where pending transactions wait to be validated.
Miners select and validate these transactions. They prioritise those offering higher fees, especially during periods of high network activity.
Fees are calculated based on the size of the transaction in bytes, not the amount sent. Competition among users to be processed quickly therefore creates natural variability in processing times and costs.
During periods of high network congestion, your withdrawal may take longer than expected, even with the Fast or Priority options. These variations are linked to overall Bitcoin network activity and may occur regardless of the speed option you selected.
